2012 Blue and Gold Dinner

Pack 316 celebrated its final Blue and Gold dinner. Webelos II performed the Opening Flag Ceremony and Invocation. Uniform inspections were performed by the Civil Air Defense (Palwaukee Squadron). Honorary guests included Troop 270 and Troop 235 who presented the Webelos II scouts their new neckerchief and slides. Best wishes to Webelos II as they transition into their new boy scout troops and also to our remaining scouts as they transtion into their new cub scout packs. After ten memorable years at Euclid Elementary School, Pack 316 has folded. Many thanks to all of the adult leaders who have dedicated their time and effort over the past ten years.

2012 Pinewood Derby

Everyone enjoyed today's pinewood derby. The boys did a great job designing their cars. First, second, and third place trophies were awarded for speed. One trophy was awarded for best design. Many thanks to the Dads and other family members who assisted with building the cars. And many thanks to Mr. Mark Rivard who assisted us with the race today.

Pack 316 Family Picnic

The Pack 316 Family Picnic was tons of fun! Games included volleyball, a water balloon toss, bean bag toss, three legged race, and a watermelon eating contest. We enjoyed barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs, watermelon, and ice cream. We also shot rockets into the air. The boys really had a great time.

2011 Blue and Gold Dinner

Uniform inspections were performed by the Civil Air Defense (Palwaukee Squadron). Webelos II received their Arrow of Light awards. Other scouts received their Bobcat badges. The scouts performed various skits for their families and we all enjoyed a nice dinner.

Pinewood Derby

Everyone enjoyed today's pinewood derby. The scouts did a great job building and designing their cars. First, second, and third place trophies were awarded for speed and design. Judging was performed by former Cubmasters John Wolf, and John Kellerhals, and by former Den Leader Tony Abfall. Many thanks for their participation.

Raingutter Regatta

Awards were presented to Webelos I (WOW camping, cooking/firebuilding) and Webelos II (arrow, WOW camping, Forestry/Geology) cub scouts. Then we were off to the races! The scouts raced the boats they had made down a narrow channel of water. First, second and third place trophies were awarded to the fastest boats.

Webelos Outdoor Weekend

Nine scouts from Pack 316 attended the WOW camping. Our scouts visited seven different training stations with activities such as: Fire Building, Cooking, Craftsmanship, Science, Geology, Handyman Activities and Forestry. This was great fun for all and especially fun for many of our scouts who have not done much camping in the past.

Fishing Derby

The rain didn't stop our true fishermen. Four of our cub scouts enjoyed the derby at Lake Opeka on Saturday June 5th. A boy scout from Troop 270 also joined us and assisted the younger boys with their fishing. We enjoyed hot dogs and raffles. Everyone went home with prizes. Trophies were awarded for catching the most fish (31 fish caught in 3 hours), the longest fish (a 7-inch small bass) and the heaviest fish.

The Grove Sleepover

We had a wonderful camp out at the Glenview Grove. We started the evening at their main building with the boys completing a fact finding sheet. Then we were off to the bon fire for popcorn and smores where we met a hungry racoon looking for tidbits of food. After dark we went for a guided nature walk through the woods searching for animals. Later in the evening we returned to the main building to set our sleeping bags, have a snack and watch a movie. The next morning we were up at 6:30 a.m. to pack out sleeping bags. After Breakfast we went on another guided nature walk and by 8:30am it was time to depart for home with some memories of a wonderful outing.

2010 Rocket Derby

Our annual Rocket Derby was a blast! Fortunately we had good weather. The rockets were placed on the launch pad by a cub scout leader. The scouts stood a safe distance away and were allowed to press the button which ignited the rockets and launched them high up into the air. The scouts then ran after the rockets and retrieved them as the rockets parachuted down to the ground. Unfortunately, one rocket landed on the power lines and had to be abandoned. Many thanks to boy scout troop 270 for assisting us with the Rocket Derby.

2010 Blue and Gold Dinner

Our annual Blue and Gold dinner was a huge success! Webelos II performed the Opening Flag Ceremony and Invocation. Uniform inspections were performed by the Civil Air Defense (Palwaukee Squadron). Honorary guests included Troop 270 boy scouts who assisted us with Cub Scout Advancements and former Pack 316 Cubmaster John Wolf. Many wonderful prizes were raffled off during the evening. Webelos I performed Retirement of Colors and for the grand finale, Jason Kollum, a professional juggler, entertained us. It was a memorable evening. Congratulations to the Webelos II Scouts who earned their Arrow of Light Award and best wishes to them as they transition into their Boy Scout troop.
